In the production of organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer, Double Roller Press Granulator and Disc Granulator are two mainstream equipment. Let’s compare them in detail.
- Working principle and granulation characteristics
Double Roller Press Granulator: It is a dry granulation machine. It does not need to add water or binder. The pressure between the rollers is adjusted by the hydraulic system to directly extrude the dry powder raw materials into thin sheets, and then crush and screen them into particles. At the same time, different particle shapes can be obtained by adjusting the groove design of the roller surface, and the particle size uniformity is high.
Disc Granulator: It is a wet granulation machine. It uses the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the disc, and then sprays water or binder to make the raw materials agglomerate into balls. The particles are round and smooth, but the humidity of the material needs to be controlled. At the same time, the particle size can be flexibly adjusted by adjusting the inclination angle and rotation speed of the disc, and the granulation rate is more than 93%.
- Scope of application of materials
Double Roller Press Granulator: It has strong adaptability to various materials and is widely used in compound fertilizers, medicines, feeds and other dry powder raw materials, and can effectively granulate them.
Disc Granulator: It is more suitable for organic fertilizers or sticky materials with moderate moisture content. It is sensitive to the moisture content of raw materials. The granulation effect of some special materials may not be as good as that of Double Roller Press Granulator.
- Production efficiency
Double Roller Press Granulator: supports fully automated production, short process flow, stable production efficiency, suitable for large-scale continuous operation.
Disc Granulator: requires manual control, intermittent production, suitable for small batches, multiple varieties and flexible production.
- Investment cost
Double Roller Press Granulator: The initial investment cost of the equipment is relatively high, but the equipment layout is compact and does not require a supporting drying system, which is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and rapid production needs.
Disc Granulator: The equipment cost is low, the process is simple, and the equipment is durable (the service life can reach more than 10 years), but it needs to be equipped with an additional drying section, and the comprehensive energy consumption is relatively high.
- Environmental performance
Double Roller Press Granulator: no waste water and waste gas emissions, in line with the trend of green production.
Disc Granulator: wet process may produce dust pollution, requiring Dust Collector equipment.
In short, when choosing a granulator, enterprises should make scientific decisions based on their own production scale, material characteristics, budget and other factors to maximize profits.
